Botox is recommend by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care excellence) for the treatment of migraine. It is given as a number of small injections into the muscles of the head and neck. The treatment takes about 15 minutes to administer and works by blocking signals between the nerves and muscles and so helps to stop chronic migraine headaches developing. Repeat treatment is recommended every 3 months, but this interval can sometimes be extended.
